GLG's Thoughts on the TCU Scared Frogs

This past week, a third party approached representatives of TCU and Wisconsin about a potential rematch of the Rose Bowl, with TCU visiting Wisconsin to open each team's college football season.  While Wisconsin's coach Bret Bielema took about "point-five seconds" to say yes, TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte declined the offer, as TCU already had Baylor scheduled for their opening game.

Friend of the blog GLG is mighty fired up about this, as he hates highly ranked smaller schools who don't play as tough a schedule as the AQ schools.  Here are his thoughts:

TCU - "we'll play anybody, anywhere. well, except for good teams early in the season because we are going to be ranked highly next year and all we need to do is beat a bunch of patsies and earn a shot at a national title without beating any good teams"

HEY IDIOTS. Other teams that are in contention for the national title next year (all from big conferences) will have to beat 4 or 5 teams ranked in the top 20 to stay undefeated. You'll have to play how many? 1, maybe. Yeah, you deserve a shot in the NC game. Penn State should go back to being independent and play 12 crappy teams and go undefeated every year and whine that they should play for the title every year.

TCU ranked 10th or lower at the beginning of the season - "we'll play anybody, anywhere to prove we deserve a shot at the national title"

TCU ranked 2nd at the beginning of the season - "no. we can't play wisconsin. it doesn't work for us"

Waaaaaa....  Get fired up GLG...

Don't Nobody Have More Smarter Educations Than Auburn

After winning the college football national championship, the Auburn football team reflects quite well on the quality of education that can be obtained at this institution of higher learning (or more likely learning how to get high for these players).  According to the Academic Progress Rate, Auburn finished 85 out of the 120 major college football programs.  A stellar job...  On top of that, another study showed that white players on the team graduated at a rate of 100% while black players were at only 49%.  Here are some quotes from these so-called STUDENT-athletes:

  • Auburn linebacker Josh Bynes- "Throughout the whole week of preparation and everything before this game, they hadn't showed not one defensive highlight"
  • Josh Bynes- “And, today, we did the same thing. I think that’s what this defense and this team was built on, the resiliency of going out there and playing to the final whistle.”
  • Auburn QB Cam Newton- "I don't want nobody to feel sorry for me, because throughout this year didn't nobody feel sorry for Auburn"
  • Cam Newton- "It's not even sunk in"
  • Cam Newton- "This week, everyone knew the eyes was on the Auburn defense to see how they would respond to Oregon's offense"
At least their coach, Gene Chizik, is about as stupid as his players are, with this comment regarding the academic performance of his team- “We do a great job, so we’re not concerned with that.”  When pressed on the issue of graduating black players, Chizik said, “Those are circumstances; there’s all kinds of different things.”
  • Another quote from the cunning linguist Josh Bynes about the black-white graduation rate disparity- “Maybe because it’s — never mind.  I don’t want to say nothing.”
For more on the shenanigans going on at Auburn, see this New York Times article.  In the meantime, hopefully the rest of the Auburn football team don't say no nothing about no thing...

Fuck You USC

Fuck you, USC, for the following reasons:
  • Going for 2 three times and fucking it up each time
  • Fumbling the ball away while trying to run out the clock
  • Giving up a TD with 7 seconds left
The result- a 32-21 victory that doesn't cover the 11.5 point spread...  JUST KICK A GODDAMN EXTRA POINT, YOU FUCKS!!!
