Taking on The Mod Squad in late afternoon volleyball action last night, TRx looked to continue to the march towards the playoffs. With the playoffs almost upon us, TRx decided to employ some new tactics this time around, included using their sex appeal as a weapon, as a near record four females showed up to participate (Kim, Sarah, Shannon, Monika). These fine specimens, combined with Blin's size small shirt, and the guns of sleeveless Golden, JR, and KB proved to be too much for the opposing semi-retarded four person "Odd" Squad to handle.
TRx dominated the game from the start, fueled by wasps all over the court motivating even KB to hustle for the ball (although according to his phone, everyday he's hustlin). After jumping out to a quick 4-0 lead, TRx got a little complacent, and quickly gave up a few points. As if sensing something was amiss, Mean Joe quickly arrived and came to the rescue with his patented run from the far parking lot, putting TRx back on the path to victory, as they took the first set, 15-9.
The second set was dominated by Blin. Early on Play A was employed to perfection, as off a stellar set by someone, Ben utilized his muscular stature with a powerful spike the likes of which no one has ever seen. As he elevated, he seems to levitate in mid-air, as if he were on a tripod, before the massive force of his arm overcame the tightness of his shirt to annihilate the ball for the TRx point. Perhaps it was the appearance of an older, wiser, Blin look-alike on the other team that motivated him, as he attempted to impress his father/grandfather. Later on, these two athletes/relatives would go horizontal dive for horizontal dive, showing their true connection to one another in patented Blin family form.
As the second set wound down, TRx got a few more surprise guest appearances, as Manny, GLG, and the Mad Elf came out to show their support. This brought to three the number of lucky people who had gotten into KB's shorts, as both Greg and JR sported Ken's shorts. KB can only hope that they weren't going commando... In the end, TRx prevailed in the second set, winning the match 15-9, 15-7 to bring their record to 7-3 as the season of greatness continued. After the game, the team showered Golden with lemon-lime Gatorade in celebration as Berardi did the Mad Elf-dance screaming "Golden showers, Golden showers!!!"
One would think that Berardi would have been taking notes during the game on how to lead a team to victory, however, this was not the case, as B-RAD proceeded to lead the softball team to a devastating loss in the first round of the playoffs immediately following the volleyball game, proving once again, that Golden is a winner, while Berardi is a loser...
Last game of the regular season is next Monday at 5:30 against Konica Minolta. Be there, or be Berardi...
