2006 Volleyball Game (7/24/2006)

TRx took on team Chrysler last night in exciting and stimulating volleyball action. TRx was without former captain GLG, who was beginning his lifetime suspension from the league for his lack of sportsmanship and general jerkish demeanor. Without GLG, it was as if a great weight was removed from team TRx. Actually, it was just the weight of Greg's bulbous head. But without him keeping the team down, TRx welcomed Sarah L to the team, and the results were nothing short of spectacular. Overcome with joy due to Greg's absence, TRx jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first set, as they were fueled by the thirst quenching frozen gatorades and water brought by super-fan/team mom Dana, who showed her true allegiance and passion for the real v-ballers.

However, despite their quick, seemingly insurmountable lead, the team stopped using its BLANK, and quickly gave up many points. Down 13-6 later in the first said, Mean Joe took it upon himself to motivate the team, with an outburst of "Come on, Joey!" From this point on, TRx was unstoppable, with Mean Joe, Jonathan, and Golden spiking on the other team at will. Even Blin got in on the action, as on one attempted spike, he hit the ball so hard that he fell down. Play A was in full effect, as the other team had no answer for the masterful sets of KB, Young Johnson, and Monika. With each successive spike, TRx went old school, with many calls and responses of "NICE."

Chrysler was clearly discombobulated at this point, as TRx came back from the 13-6 deficit to take the first set 16-14. Even with Bizarro JR wearing his batman shirt on the other team, and the Fat Man (playing without Jake) yelling and diving all over the place, they were no match for TRx, as they quickly jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the second set. Things got a little nuts at that point, as a few GLG-like sky hooks were brought out, as well as the infamous "early jump" spike by Mean Joe, which he completely missed. Even Dana got involved, almost knocking over one of the other players with a powerful heave when the ball went in her direction. Even with a large lead, Sarah continued to exert the effort that GLG had always lacked. With her tenacity and nose for the ball, she was a pain in the neck to the other team, similar to the pain in her own neck she is rumored to have.

In the end, a great time was had by all, except for Greg, who was busy learning about giant sea turtles. Next game is Monday, 7/31 at 5:30. Come join us for an awesome time, and be as happy as the strapping young lads below...

Good luck...
