Softball Game (7/18) - Shucks, That Sure Was a G-Golly Good Time (G as in rated G and appropriate for all audiences)

Yesterday, the pretty neat-o TRx softball team took on the totally awesome GMAC Bleacher 'Bums' in a matchup that all of the wonderful people of the world thought would be a very exciting contest, between two well-deserving teams. Holy Toledo, it sure was hot out there- almost as hot as the fire of love burning within the hearts of TRx for all people of the Earth. TRx had Joyous JR pitching, and he is always just an all-around swell guy. You could tell that he had oodles of respect for the other team, as he attempted to throw them all picture-perfect pitches, so that they would be able to experience the true joys of getting a hit in softball. However, his natural abilities proved too much for the Bleacher Bums, as they could not muster much against JR. Yet even as TRx recorded out after out, the fans could almost see a pained look on the face of JR, as he was sad that the other team might start to feel bad. Remington is always a very thoughtful and caring individual, looking out for everyone's feelings like that.

Once TRx got up to bat, each batter had a whale of a game, as each and every member got at least one base hit. Not only that, the team showed their love and support for each other, with constant cheering and applause for each batter, regardless of the outcome of their at-bat. I'd like to think that this excessive celebration of both a happy and healthy "team" was what led to the fantastic performances of each individual, and led to the constant smiles on everyone's face. You know what they say about TEAM- Together Everyone Accomplishes More.

In the first inning, led off by Outstanding Orr, each member of the team had a super-duper base hit, as TRx batted around, scoring 8 splendid runs. Light-hearted Lori finished up the hitting barrage with a gnarly 2 RBI double to stake TRx to a 8-0 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, the other team was both sad and mad. On one play, the opposing batter hit hard line drive right off of Remington's knee. A lesser, mere mortal man would have faltered, but Remington, showing tremendous courage and heart, stayed with the play and got the batter out. He also showed his forgiving attitude, as he later embraced the player who hit the ball, to commend him for such a laudable hit. For continuing to play the rest of the game through such agony, Remington is now the hero of TRx, and is now the person we all strive to be like, both in softball and in life.

Remington was not done displaying his awesome talents, as during his next at bat he hit a nifty fly ball to deep left, as the crowd gasped "Gadzooks!!!" Even with his recently acquired third knee, he hustled around the bases for a home run, as his legend grew. After Life-Loving Legrand got a base hit next, Marvelous Manny decided to pay homage to Remington's resilience in the face of adversity by doing an impression of JR, also hitting a home run. This time, the crowd exclaimed "Gee whillikers!!!!" Later in the game, even Bright-Eyed Berardi got in on the excitement, hitting a home run of his own, with the crowd yelling "Yowza!!!" Such tremendously impressive displays of hitting spread, as Great Golden had three hits, and Tubular Tom/Shining Steve added 2 more.

In the field, TRx also displayed talent that kept the crowd saying "E-Gad!" Orr, demonstrating his team-first attitude, returned to his old position- 2nd base, where he played stellar defense. The only minor miscue came on a pop-up to the infield, during which both GLG and Orr called for the ball, as they were both bursting with enthusiasm out of their desire to help the team, but the ball, not wanting to choose between such amazing human beings, fell to the ground as the runner reached first. A small delay in the game resulted, as GLG and Orr kept apologizing to each other, as they are both extremely well-mannered individuals who impart joy on everyone around them. Golden also made some really cool plays at third, including a double play that was so radical that the fans wanted it to count for three outs.

With a 17-1 lead in the fourth inning, TRx started to feel bad about having such a lead. Concerned for their buddies and pals on the other team, Orr, Berardi, and Greg took the high ground, and instead of showing off their dandy hitting abilities, ended the inning quickly to spare the other team any more injury. Berardi then took it a step further in the outfield, as he rid himself of his usual sure-handed glove, to allow many balls to drop in for bases hits, and get past him, so the other team could would get some runs on the board and feel swell about themselves again. Finally, TRx ended it, with a score of 17-6, and everything was hunky-dory, as both teams hugged in appreciation for having such a groovy time playing softball with such other amazing lads and lasses.

After the game, showing the true meaning of sportsmanship, captain Berardi exclaimed "Both teams played hard... I wish we both could win." It truly was a splendid game of softball, it was. Darling Dana sure was great for bringing us cold drinks to keep us hydrated. Beautiful Bill B, Sweet Sam, and Magical Matt Luby were also totally the teams best friends for showing their love and support out there. Hopefully they will enjoy the Thank You cards that should be forthcoming, and the future fan appreciation day to be held in their honor, and in the honor of all fans of anything throughout the world. In closing, I love you guys... you are my best friends ever. Good luck.
