The GLG Realignment Special

From the insane mind of GLG, his MLB realignment plan (2011 records through 6/22):

NL WEST:
San Fran 39-34
LA Angels 36-39
Oakland 34-40
LA Dodgers 34-41
San Diego 31-44

NL EAST:
Atlanta 43-33
TB 40-34
Washington 36-37
Baltimore 33-39
Florida 33-41

NL CENTRAL:
St Louis 40-34
Cleveland 39-33
Detroit 39-35
Cincy 38-37
KC 31-42

AL WEST:
Arizona 40-34
Texas 40-35
Seattle 37-36
Colorado 37-36
Houston 27-48

AL CENTRAL:
Milwaukee 41-34
Toronto 36-39
White Sox 36-39
Minny 32-39
Cubs 30-43

AL EAST:
Philly 46-28
Boston 44-29
NY Yankees 43-29
Pittsburgh 37-37
NY Mets 35-38

And you expand the playoff field to 12 teams like in the NFL. 3 division winners and 3 wild card teams in each conference.  Top 2 seeds from NL & AL get first round byes. Other 4 teams from each division play in a best of 3 series. Then you go best of 5 in the next round and best of 7 in the division finals and world series.
GO AHEAD. TRY TO POKE A HOLE IN THAT. YOU CAN’T.

And. AND you get some new exciting hometown rivalries such as:

San Fran/Oakland
LA/LA
TB/FLA
Wash/Balt
St L/KC
Hous/Texas
Cubs/White Sox
NYY/NYM
Pitt/Philly
YOU DON’T HAVE THAT IN MLB RIGHT NOW. No exciting rivalries except for Boston/NYY. And you get to keep that in the new alignment.

This would clearly lead to more excitement than a cracked egg, the $5 dollar trick, and a $5 dollar handy combined!
