Ed Reed's Brother as Motivation

Why are the Raven's claiming that the death of Ed Reed's brother was motivation for them in their playoff victory?  If in fact he died after jumping into a river upon being confronted by police in response to a stolen car report, how is that inspirational or motivating?

"We need to be as motivated to win this game as Ed Reed's brother was to get away from the cops...  He was willing to jump into a river while not able to swim and risk his life rather than talking to the police- That is motivational!"

I'm sure it's a sad situation for Ed Reed and the family, but again, how is it inspiring or motivational?

I'm sure he was innocent too...
